Our world is finite. But the possibilities within it, are infinite.

TO YOU,
19 YEARS FROM TODAY

Time travel has been a theory that stirred the imagination of almost everyone across a variety of mediums. Whether being discussed by scientists, or sci-fi enthusiasts, time travel has been a relevant topic since the beginning of time itself. Part of this is due to the fact that little is known about the subject, let alone if it is possible to begin with. Regardless of its possibility, time travel continues to be a topic of interest for many people across generations. For this infographic project, I decided to study the psychology behind time travel and the inherent curiosity that it generates. It also includes a case study of three popular movies/series and their own interpretation of controlling time.

Approach

The title of this project derives from a popular conspiracy theory surrounding John Titor, a time traveler from the year 2036. This project serves as a Titor’s message from the future; this project was created in 2017, 19 years from the year Titor came from. The logomark was created with offset strokes to emphasize the concept of time travel being a glitch or distortion of reality. The typeface Neoterique as well as the color palette was chosen to give the mark a futuristic quality.

Main Poster Design
My goal with my overall design was to be informative, yet engaging to view and digest. Because time travel is such a complex and scientific concept, I wanted to balance my design by including strong visual elements. I didn’t want to overwhelm my design with complex algorithms or statistics either. As a result, I limit the scope of my research towards the reason why people are so interested in exploring a fictive and virtually impossible concept. The graphic models are designed with a purely linear style, to give a technical and mathematical quality to the overall design.
