Marine Origami by Joseph Hwang is a compilation of 26 contemporary origami models inspired from the diversity of coastal marine life. Featuring models such as the octopus, great white shark, and stingrays, Marine Origami is Hwang's ambitious sixth book that illustrates the beautiful art of origami.
With so many unique models, and intricate diagrams, both Hwang and I wanted the design of the book to be both minimalistic and elegant. As Hwang describes his work as "an intersection between mathematical complexity...and artistic creativity", I wanted the book to encapsulate this duality. The text and layout of the book is very structured and organized to reflect Hwang's methodical and mathematically approach to origami, while the photographs themselves captures the artistic innovation of his work.
