Undefined is a power-lifting and fitness team based in San Diego. With members from all walks of life united by a common interest in fitness and self-improvement, Undefined seeks to create a diverse community where no one is defined by their past. The name “Undefined” means limitless potential, and no boundaries to what they are able to achieve, whether in the gym or in life.
The concept of “1/0 (one dived by zero)” was introduced early on in the design process, as the solution itself is undefined. I wanted to integrate this idea into the logo, but also build a connection between the “1/0” with the concept of fitness and the brand name “Undefined.” To bring my idea closer to fitness, I was inspired by the Adidas logo with their strong, bold lines. I went with a black, white, and orange color palette to give the team an energetic and enthusiastic brand.

After some initial research, a large majority of powerlifting brands and gyms feature a lot of black (gym equipment, safety mats, dumbbells, etc.) I decided to go with a bold orange color for the logo, to contrast the black and give the brand a strong, and energetic presence.

One divided by zero
The logo uses negative space to showcase the "1/0" mathematical equation, a symbolic representation of the word undefined.
UN-defined
The positive space of the logo features the prefix "UN" from the name Undefined, to highlight their goal to break down barriers.
